Think at the conference - Act in the workcamps

From thinking to action – here it became real!

Ten work camps took place before and after the conference:

Some 200 people were able to be placed, a number taking part both before and after the conference.

Hands-on building and renovating work at childrens homes, youth
centres and schools in and around the city of Sao Paulo, or work on organic farms and projects in rural areas outside of the city.

You can find information here about the individual projects, the work camps themselves and the impressions of the participants.

The Work Camps

International Collaboration

The project groups had participants from all over the world, and, of course a number of local people as well.

It was a remarkable opportunity for people to really get to know one another and to make a connection with the Brazilian culture at a grass roots level.

These were all social projects which either dealt directly with the endangered environment, or brought one into touch with the plight of Brazil’s poor, but in such a way as to work together positively and with hope for a better future.

To find out what a work camp is and how it is organised, visit the Idem website. The camps in Brazil are described there as well, and you can see what is involved. Click here for the
